Brian Adams

Brian Adams has had a long and distinguished career in the arts, as a writer and as a producer/director in television. He was in charge of arts programming for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation for more than 20 years, and was awarded an Order of Australia for his outstanding contribution to the arts and entertainment.

Many of his documentaries were developed in conjunction with the BBC and other major international producers and distributors.

In several cases, documentary portraits evolved into his published biographies of renowned Australians, including opera diva Dame Joan Sutherland, artists Sir Sidney Nolan and Sir William Dobell and historic figures like Sir Joseph Banks and his voyage of botanical discovery to Australia in the 18th century.

Brian Adams and his family moved to central France in the 1990's from Sydney, embracing the rural French dream in an ancient stone farmouse, but he now lives in the southern French city of Nimes, renowned for its Roman past - visible in the arena, still used for summer concerts and bull-fights, and the Maison Carrée, the best-preserved Roman temple in Europe.
