Cathy Helowicz

Cathy Helowicz grew up outside of Annapolis, MD on a beautiful little point on the Chesapeake Bay. She spent her childhood summers boating, fishing, and crabbing, and dreaming up her own mystery stories. At the age of seventeen she was recruited to work for the NSA. Her career spanned a period of seventeen years, eight of those years working abroad in England and Germany. While in Munich, she earned her BS in Information Systems Management at the University of Maryland, University College. Between work and going to college, Cathy made time to travel. She has visited over 15 countries, biking, hiking and skiing. She has skied the mountains of Germany, France, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland – even competing in a few races, earning her silver medals. She retired from the NSA in 1994 to act as a private computer systems consultant, while starting her writing career on the side.

Always one to be outdoors, she continued to ski but turned her passions to sailboat racing in the year 2000 which she pursued until 2007, earning a few yachting trophies along the way as well.

She presently lives in Jupiter, Florida with her Golden Retriever Aimee and writes full time, having recently completed several new children's books, which just recently won the Mom's Choice Awards, Gold Award. When not writing, you will find Cathy and Aimee on the beach or out walking.

She is currently the Executive Director of the Palm Beach Writers Group. She is very active in her community and is always ready to take on a challenge. She is involved with a program with the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County, where she spends time helping children read.
