Forest B. Dunning is a rancher who lives in Sheridan, WY. Raised near Birney, Montana and the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Southeastern Montana, Forest played with the grandchildren of the warriors and white settlers described in this book.
He is a graduate from New Mexico State University with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College with a master’s degree in Military Science. After a career as a U.S. Army officer (retired lieutenant colonel) and financial advisor, Forest returned to his roots and bought a cattle ranch near Sheridan, WY.
He has long had a love of Montana and Wyoming history and historical fiction. Noting that much of the local history has been overlooked, he decided to write this historical novel to entertain and educate readers on the drama of the early Cheyenne Reservation Period.
