Shawn C Wickard

Shawn C Wickard became the first person to receive a stem cell transplant of his own cells to cure him of Lupus at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda Maryland and among the first 100 in the world. Not only did it cure his Lupus but it allowed him to overcome a rare spinal disease which had paralyzed him from the chest down for over 7 years.

He wanted more and he was able to gain more. This speaks more to the power of mind coupled with the innovative science behind his stem cell transplant.

After being in a wheelchair for over 16 years he is now utilizing a walker with plans to do away with that in the near future showing us the power of will through action. We all have those moments in life that seem impossible to overcome but with patience and an eye towards the future we can learn through his example that we can overcome all obstacles when we are willing to face them head on.
