Michael Lum Y.M.

A wordsmith in his spare time, Michael Lum Y.M. is the bestselling author of "Wild Boars Live Twice!", “Make The World Your Oyster!”, "I Once Wore Diapers”, “No Failure; Only Success Delayed”, “Who Broke My Rice Bowl?” and “From Beggars to Millionaires”. His books are translated into Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Indonesia and Korean.

By day, he is the Master Trainer of his own training outfit, HardKnocksCollege.com. Trained as an accountant, he holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from National University of Singapore and a Master of Commerce from the University of New South Wales, Sydney. To hone in his skills as a trainer, he completed a Master in Art in Professional Education from Nanyang Technological University.

His previous careers include finance, marketing and general management positions with American and British MNCs in Sydney and Singapore.

Michael is a certified trainer with American Board of NLP and American Management Association (AMA). He is a Louis Allen Program Leader, a Laughter Yoga instructor and a licensed Body Language Trainer. Michael is a certified hypnotherapist with National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) and a Distinguished Toastmaster with Toastmasters International. An Associate Certified Coach with International Coaching Federation (ICF) and a Six Seconds EQ trainer, he is also an associate trainer with Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA), Marketing Institute of Singapore (MIS) and Center for Behavioral Studies. Michael is also an Associate Faculty with UPH University lecturing strategy, entrepreneurship and negotiation.

In recognition of his selfless social contribution for his free workshops amongst mid-life retrenched workers and singles, he was awarded ABC True Hero 2003, a social enterprise award pioneered by ABC Stout. Michael is interviewed regularly by the press, radio and TV for his work. He is a regular contributor in management to The Straits Times, a major daily in Singapore.
