Born and bred a Southern Belle, Kay Elam took a circuitous route to creative writing. During her adult life she's been the manager of a medical practice, a travel agent, a sales executive, and a consultant for an international non-profit. All of these jobs required writing, and it finally dawned on her a lot of this writing was creative.
Though not typically a writer of scary, her first published short story was The Trolls in the anthology Horrors: Real, Imagined, and Deadly, published by Elephant's Book Press.
Additional short stories appeared in three more anthologies published by Inception Books. Good Friday was in the literary anthology The New Frontier-Short Fiction and Poems from an Old New World. The Creepy Collection featured YA stories Oh, Baby! and Hormones of Horror. Runaway Wife and Primetime were in the romance Always and For Never.
She is currently seeking representation for her debut novel, CALL OF THE CRICKETS. In addition, a three-book cozy series set in Nashville hides in one of her desk drawers.
Kay enjoys yoga, Pilates, and sitting in her courtyard watching her flowers grow, though not necessarily in that order. She lives near Nashville with her husband and the many characters who reside in her imagination.
