Tanisha (Myself) grew up in Oakland California. Reading a book, whatever the topic, stimulates the mind. That's my motive. I grew up not being able to watch T.V. a lot so books became my reason to look forward to the day. I loved reading a good story in which I could read and visualize the scene as if I was actually there. At a very young age I was reading college level books and actually enjoying them. I remember being around 9 years old reading Maya Angelou's "Why a Caged Bird Sings" the story touched my heart so much I cried and made myself a promise I would write my own stories one day and hope to have the same impact on my readers as she had done for me. That's my goal, whether your laughing, crying, or just simply amazed its a must I spread a positive message one book at a time to all races. I am ready to break the trend that has everyone believe "urban" means "African American."
The definition of urban states "of or relating to the cities or people who live in them" which means mostly all of us have been urban at some point!
