Nina Joshi

Nina Joshi Ramsey left Kenya as a teenager with her family, in the violent aftermath of a failed military coup. Her account of that won a place in Penguin's 2nd Decibel Prize Anthology.

Having completed a BSc in Applied Computer Systems, she had a career in Global Technology Management, before changing paths with a Creative Writing MA and Psychology PGDip. Her debut novel, Lifewalla, was inspired by the 1984 Bhopal Gas Disaster. Professor Jamie Hacker Hughes, President of the British Psychological Society (2015-16), recommends it as 'a very human book' that 'really gets inside the psychology of disasters and the consequences they wreak'.

Joshi Ramsey has also written for the stage. A rehearsed reading for a short play, 'Pickles, Pujas and Pin-ups' was showcased at Bush Theatre, and a full-length staged reading of 'Familiar Strangers' was produced by Kali Theatre at the Tristan Bates Theatre in Covent Garden. She has also undertaken privately commissioned writing.
