Author of Freedom from Trauma in America, a novel, and Freedom From Trauma in Dementia:a caregiving guide.
Bill was born into an America at war in the 1940s and raised during the seminal decade of the Civil Rights Movement. He received a Wall Street Journal Scholarship during the Vietnam War years of the 1960s and became a journalist (which gave birth to Freedom from Trauma in America) before leaving his native land for England. The novel is a narrative about an America which lost its heart, causing mayhem in everyday life. (Both books are published in 2015 and available from Amazon.) The novel is about Paul Revere, who struggles with whatever it takes to be a writer, ranging from metaphysical poet to autobiographer to humorist.
During his UK career of being with people suffering with dementia (which gave rise to Freedom from Trauma in Dementia: a caregiving guide), Bill discovered a spirited strength of will and awareness of human potential which comes naturally from the heart to relieve troublesome mind-wandering in the head. He found in being with caregivers how ordinary human gifts bring mutual well- in the most challenging of circumstances. After all is said and done, after a doctorate degree, being the head of a UK university teaching department, dementia services development, and a healthcare career, what Bill received uniquely from caregivers and sufferers was an understanding of how to overcome negative emotions such as the fear which is a cause of further suffering.
Bill Lemmer lives with his family in the UK.
