Kim Rigby

A true Tasmanian devil, Kim grew up in Hobart, Tasmania.

Kim dreamed of a life in journalism, but opted for adventure instead with the Royal Australian Navy. That adventure ended in 2000, and Kim turned her hand to writing, a childhood dream.

Kim’s magical realism series The Black Fire Chronicles includes seven books plus a novella prologue, all of which are suitable for teens and adults. Angus the Ageless was released in mid 2025. Kim is currently writing the final book in the Black Fire Chronicles series, tentatively called The Prophecy.

A collaboration with English author Alistair Birch resulted in a World War Two thriller, The Girl from Berchtesgaden.

Kim moved back home to Hobart in 2023. Away from writing, you’ll find her practising tai chi, gardening, or taking a long walk on the beach.
