Robert Eric Shoemaker

Robert Eric Shoemaker is the author of Magical Poetics (Bloomsbury, 2026), The Ecstasy of Saint Sebastian (Tram Editions, 2027), The Gothic World of Edgar Allan Poe (Insight Editions, 2027), Ca'Venezia (2021, Partial Press), We Knew No Mortality (2018, Acta Publications), and 30 Days Dry (2015, Thought Collection Publishing). Eric’s work has been published with Rhino, Spoon River, Rain Taxi, Zone 3, Tupelo Quarterly, Jacket2, Rattle, Exchanges, and others. Eric earned a PhD from the University of Louisville and an MFA from Naropa University. Eric is the Community Engagement Manager at Sarabande Books and an educator at Wilbur Wright College and Northeastern Illinois University, and he regularly writes literary and theatre criticism for various publications. He teaches and lives in Chicago with his incredible partner, Corey, and their 63+ plants, 2 cats, 1 dog, and 3 reptiles.
