With much dismay but also relief, I received the news of my diagnosis. Things had been looking pretty grim; my weight was down to 83 pounds, energy was about gone, looking terrible and what I ate only caused more problems.

The whole family was concerned that I would not last much longer. Anemia level high and terrific Albumin count in the blood did not spell out a good future.

An amazing thing happened when the gluten free diet started to work within me. In a few days my energy and outlook started to change. The old tummy settled down again, some pains went away, sleep was possible again and the prognosis was good. After two or three weeks there was some weight gain and at the end of two years I joined others in having to 'weight watch.' All my life this had not been an issue.

There was a concern because over the years Osteoporosis had became a reality so I did not want any more weight than the ideal that was suggested on the chart. I wanted to protect the old bones while they improved.

During this two year recovery time; recipe development became important to me. I wanted to have good tasting things that were not hard to make or more expensive than necessary. Consequently the recipes are not full of complicated steps or exotic ingredients. In the back of the book are lists of places to purchase flours, gums and kitchen equipment that is helpful. Also a section called, About Flours, flour mixes, tips for baking and equivalents.

After a period of time and regaining my health something new came into my life that excited me. It was a material new to me and the colors and possibilities were glorious. Glass beads called Miyuki Delica and many other kinds as well. This was truly something that caught my attention and I began to design lovely things for jewelry and home decor. The tapestries were so much fun to style and fabricate that soon I had so many patterns that I began to sell them. First on websites and now in book for here on Amazon. The response has been wonderful and so I continue with this new found avocation and hope to continue for a long time. Blessings to you! Georgia
