The fairy tales of her youth continue to inspire Mitchell’s creative body of work comprised of poetry, short stories, and novels. As her writing has evolved from her childhood journals to her current project—the four-book series, The Flowerday Papers—the underlying themes of “Once upon a time” and “Happily ever after” have never ceased to resonate. In addition to writing creatively, she writes a community opinion column for the Lincoln Journal Star. Even there, her work has a storytelling quality that welcomes readers into the world of her opinion.
A Nebraska native, Stephanie Mitchell resides in Malcolm, Nebraska. She lives on an acreage with her husband, James Drake, where they raise their children and write.
