Richard L. Hermann

Richard L. Hermann is the author of 14 books. His most recent book is Close Encounters with the Cold War: Personal Battles with Evil Empires (Persimmon Alley Press, 2020). His book, Managing Your Legal Career: Best Practices for Success in the Law (American Bar Association, 2010), was runner-up for the Benjamin Franklin Award for best career book of 2010.

He taught law for ten years; writes an op-ed column for Messenger Post Media; was a columnist for National Jurist, and wrote the Legal Career Web blog.

Previously, he was CEO and General Counsel of Federal Reports, Inc. The company was sold to Thomson Reuters in 2007.

Before launching his company, he was an attorney at the U.S. Departments of Defense and Energy, and the General Accounting Office, and a legal consultant to the U.S. Departments of Defense and Justice, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency on national security law.

He is a graduate of Yale University (BA), the New School University (MA), and Cornell Law School (JD), and the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s School (Honor Graduate).
