Sue Brassel has lived in Indiana her entire life.
Sue is a self-taught artist, and proud of it. "If you want to pursue a degree I think that is wonderful. My experience is that art comes from within. When you have no rules to follow you are able to dive in and just create!"
Sue started out "doodling" as a young teen. It helped her concentrate in class. She carried this on into adulthood, doodling in meetings to stay awake and engaged in the conversation. We all know how boring meetings can be.
Sue raised a family and did all of the mommy, wifey things expected of her. When she was in her late 40's her creative side kicked back in. Sue struggled with deciding which direction her art should go. "One day I decided to quit thinking about it, and just get out of my own way. I now paint or draw whatever falls out of my head. I love to explore new things, so I have embraced the randomness of my art."
For a few years Sue dabbled in mixed-media and other forms of art. In the last year she has found herself at her drawing desk, drawing pens in hand, and "doodling" for hours. "I find this form of art very soothing. I let my mind wander and just relax at the end of the day."
One night a light bulb went on. This form of art lends itself to coloring books for adults. After some research, Sue found that there were numerous articles about the therapeutic qualities of slowing down life and coloring. "I always knew that art was calming and therapeutic. It has got me through some stressful times in my life. So it only makes sense that coloring could help others relieve stress." Bam! Sue's line of coloring books was born!
While Sue is at home working in her studio, she is kept company by her sweet husband, Drew and three dogs. She is the proud mother of 2 sons and 1 daughter. She is also Grammy Sue to 3 beautiful grandkids.
