C.T.K. Hickey

C.T.K. Hickey is a young Irish author, who has published two poetry collections, "There Is A Black Storm Coming" (2015) and "Lament" (2016), along with a play, "Too Many Dangerous Men" (2017). Recurrent themes in his work include history, family, death and war.

Having been raised in a society where the echoes of Civil War which concluded almost a century ago still reverberate, Hickey is keenly aware of the weight of history and family upon our actions, and stresses this in his works. Also an avid student of both classical mythology and religion, many references to both and to be found in both his poetry and plays.

While treating heavy topics, there is always the relief of levity to be found in his writing - a levity which helps brings these works to life, and is one the defining features of his oeuvre.
