Dawn C. Reid

Dawn C. Reid (Coach Dawn) was born in Newark, NJ. She has a rich African American heritage and was born into a working-class family. Her dad, Thomas Davis, Jr., worked at the U.S. Post Office. He also was a known local jazz musician and artist who played sets with many of the jazz greats in the 1960s and 1970s. Her mother was a secretary for a top law firm in NJ between 1970 and 1980. Coach Dawn is the great-granddaughter of Everette Coleman, from the acclaimed gospel group The Coleman Brothers who were famous between 1930-1940. Elvis Presley covered one of their gospel songs "White Milky Way" (click video link). Also, her great-grandfather and his brothers owned the first African American hotel in Newark, NJ, where many famous African American musicians, actors, and entertainers stayed when they were performing in NJ and NYC. Her family's hotel and the land were later purchased and occupied by the North Jersey newspaper, The Star-Ledger.

Coach Dawn is a certified life coach and mindfulness practitioner trainer who helps other coaches achieve SMART-R goals to create work-life-harmony while growing profitable brands. She is the CEO and CCO of Reid Ready Life Coaching (www.reidreadycoaching.com). As the founder, she carries out the mission of RRLC, which is to help coaches thrive in their businesses and careers through professional development. She also lectured at Temple University, Camden County College, and New England College on areas of social cognition, community psychology, human development, and applied psychology topics. Coach Dawn is a special education advocate and a strong supporter of legislation that ensures all public schools offer FAPE to unique learners. Additionally, she supports and advocates for Autism Awareness and Mental Health Improvement & Awareness.

Although her professional life has benefited her on one path of success, Coach Dawn's creative passions allow her to flourish personally and share herself with others at a deeper level. She has an affinity for writing poetry as well as painting. From Coach Dawn's experience and research, she sees creative mediums as "therapeutic tools to help people self-express, find joy, and release pain." She often attributes her love for reading, writing, art, and creativity to her father and mother.
