Writing has been an enduring passion. At school, I wrote plays, articles for the school newspapers and many essays. I recall one essay on food and noting that even then, people were eating at any time of the day and night. That observation is certainly true today, but more so.

As a professional Chartered Surveyor, I have written more reports on property or planning appeal statements, magazine articles and textbooks. My last ten years have been devoted to writing Fiction in Crime and mystery.

After many abortive attempts, my first book was drafted on a train journey. The train was very late, so I purchased a Moleskin notebook at Euston Station in London. To my amazement, I wrote the outline of Times Up, my first full-length novel on that train journey.

In the days and weeks that followed, I realised the story I wanted to tell. A background of the phenomenal growth in property prices and ultimate collapse when the credit crunch arrived in 2008/9, indicated that one book was insufficient to tell the story. Three books I thought would be sufficient. It has ended up as five. I used a fictitious name of the 'Wall' family. I based them in Chester and a small and beautiful village nearby called Tarporley.

As the books and the stories developed, aided by my business and property experience in business, sailing and travelling by boat around the Mediterranean, the books seemed to adopt a life of their own. My passion for writing has seen me write 10 fictional books and my autobiography (not published but given to friends and Family.)

It has been a privilege to write these books, and I seem to have hit a theme which attracts readers judging by their kind comments. Enjoy reading my books. Please comment on them on this page..
