Michele Poulos

Michele Poulos holds a BFA in filmmaking from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, an MFA degree in poetry from Arizona State University, and an MFA in fiction from Virginia Commonwealth University. She recently completed directing and producing a feature-length documentary film titled A Late Style of Fire about the late poet Larry Levis. Her first full-length collection of poems, Black Laurel, is available from Iris Press. Her chapbook, A Disturbance in the Air, won the 2012 Slapering Hol Press competition, and her poetry has been anthologized in Best New Poets 2012 (chosen by Matthew Dickman) as well as The Southern Poetry Anthology. Her screenplay, Mule Bone Blues, won the 2010 Virginia Screenwriting Competition, and it made it to the second round of the 2015 Sundance Screenwriters Lab, and the second round in the 2010 Austin Screenplay Contest. She just completed co-writing a feature-length romantic comedy about a stand-up comic.
