I was born in Liverpool in 1956 but grew up in Cornwall, after my family moved there when I was just a boy.
I spent my formative school years in and out of trouble (in, more often than not) and was an avid participant in and beneficiary of the old corporal punishment system which, when people of my generation say "it didn't do me any harm" makes me think "No, that's true, but it didn't do me much good, either" as I left school with virtually no decent qualifications.
So, at 19 years of age, I enrolled in night school courses and spent the next 7 years, three nights per week, gaining a decent set of qualifications.
Then, in 1997, I embarked on a career as 'poacher turned gamekeeper' when I started to train to become a teacher. As the archetypal 'naughty boy' at school, I am sure my teachers, if they were still alive, would be either amazed or alarmed at the thought of someone like me shaping the minds of future generations, on whom the fate of the civilized world depends!
Although having been a successful 'poacher' as a school boy' I think my experience in that respect has helped me to also become a successful 'gamekeeper'!
I have always wanted to write a book (or several books) and so, once I took early retirement, my first task was to fulfil that ambition, which I have, with 'Are We There Yet?'.
I have also just published my GCSE MathsBlasters series of six books which are aimed at helping GCSE maths students (and their parents) to overcome the difficulties they are experiencing with the basics of Number, Algebra, Statistics, Geometry and Revision & Exam strategies.
Each of the topics is available as a book in its own right or the whole series is available in one course book: GCSE MathsBlasters
Recently I have also started to apply my mathematical and statistical mind to sport, which is my passion and have begun writing articles for a worldwide sports website - GiveMeSport and have become one of their Academy Sports Writers, which has given me an immense thrill, not just to see my articles exposed to millions of people but, if the topic is right, to be able to bring statistical analysis into sport as well and provide people with a different insight into sporting performance and achievements.
I also have a business website for my consultancy - Quality Maths Tuition & Intervention (QMTI) at www.qmti.co.uk which is designed for parents, GCSE maths students and schools, which reinforces my book material and provides information about support resources and courses, as well as my consultancy services for schools.
Thank you for arriving here and staying long enough to read my profile.
I do hope I can be of some help to you.
Do check out my website: www.qmti.co.uk
Best wishes
Graham
