Charlene Elson-Gustard

Charlene Elson-Gustard was born in Kingston, Jamaica, to struggling parents. She grew up in Kellits and Crofts Hill, Clarendon and now lives and works in Vere in the same parish. She has been teaching in high school for over twenty years. Her first book of poems, "Knotted Strings, Beautiful Bows," was published in 2014. "Tomorrow We Will See What Was" followed in 2015. She attended Mico Teachers' College and The Jamaica Theological Seminary. Writing poetry is second nature to her. At first, she was very guarded about putting her work out to the public. Now, she will confidently declare that she is Maya Angelou and all the great contemporary writers combined! She invites all who value art to read her work and test the authenticity of their perspective of the world.
