Christopher J. Jarmick

Author Christopher J. Jarmick is a former TV producer and screenwriter who relocated to Seattle in 1994 and became a poetry activist. He continues to organize, host and publicize poetry reading and events throughout Washington State involving locally and nationally known writers. Follow his PoetryIsEverything blog (google it). Chris has read his own poetry and curated guest poets to read at the Seattle City Council (Wordsworth) and has performed poetry and spoken word as part of multi-media programs combining music, dance and theater. He has also lectured, given workshops and led panel discussions for book and literary festivals.

His poetry (plus articles, interviews, editorials and film reviews/analysis) have been published by national and local magazines, newspapers and literary journals (including Los Angeles Magazine, Seattle Weekly, Poetry Quarterly, Real Change, Raven Chronicles, Chrysanthemum, Cambridge Book Review, Military Times, South District Journal and many others), online and in several anthologies (including a particularly good one featuring forty-two Nortwest poets entitled Many Trails to the Summit published by Rose Alley Press). His online film reviews at several websites have over 3 million views.

Recently his short poem Dear Poem Owner was chosen as part of 2014/15 King County Poetry on Buses program and is featured on two Rapid Ride King County buses, the Poetry on Buses website (where you can hear him read the poem) and at the bus stop at 3rd and Bell in downtown Seattle (where the poem and his picture are prominently featured).
