A poet since 1959 and an author for the past few years. I've written short stories and their success have provided the inspiration to write fiction adventure books as they come to mind. The heavy eyes continually droop
The muscles go limp and relax
The mind tries to revitalize
It’s the wrong time of day for a rest.
It’s been a tough day, started long before dawn,
and dusk, fell some time ago
He’s got to keep going, keep it on track
Though his thoughts are confusing and slow.
The mind fights with vigor to clear up the head
He smiles as he remembers her hair
He can’t smell the stench of the moment
For in his mind she’s standing right there
Enough for the moment, he must concentrate
Good times with his loved one will have to wait
Time is all muddled it’s hard to think straight
Yet rest and the good times, will just have to wait.
The blood pours profusely from the wound in his chest
And finally he relaxes and gives way to a rest.
The eyes finally close, he’ll rest once again
He’s headed back home to his loved one; they’ll greet him in Arlington.
