Marcin Malek

Marcin Malek, writing under the pen name Martin Smallridge, is a Polish-born poet, playwright, writer, and journalist, born on February 24, 1975, in Warsaw. His work bridges the worlds of literature and philosophy, often exploring memory, identity, and the mythic undertones of modern life through a distinctly lyrical voice. His writing has appeared in a wide range of Polish and international publications, including Fronda, Tygiel Kultury, Akcent, Nowe Państwo, Stosunki Międzynarodowe, Opcja na Prawo, and Ireland’s Leinster Express.

In 2012, he received the annual Poetry & Paratheatre award for Poem of the Year. Since 2006, he has lived and created in Ireland, where his poetic and dramatic works continue to resonate with readers across cultures. His unique style blends the haunting cadence of Irish storytelling with continental depth, producing literature that feels both ancient and immediate.
