Notion Dynamics

I'm Douglas Tocco, author and illustrator of the GOOcommand® series. We list Notion Dynamics as the main author of our books because it really is a group effort to get these ideas into print. My entire family contributes ideas and editing opinions, driving the overall quality level higher and higher. So, a special thank you to my team: My wife Deb, my junior art directors Ethan, Wyeth, and Tierney for adding so much to my life and the lives of these special books.

My creative journey began as an illustrator in the studios of Detroit, developing advertising art for brands such as Coco-Cola, General Motors and AT&T.

I later became an art director creating web sites for a new technology called the World Wide Web. I know that dates me but it's always fun to be able to say that I took an active, creative part in the first steps of the Internet. As an art director for J. Walter Thompson, I designed and programmed the very first web sites for Ford Motor Company. Later I would do the same for several other major Detroit car brands.

The next phase of my career would take 20 years to play out. I combined my illustrative interests with the latest emerging technology of 3d design and animation. As an architectural designer, I created auto shows and expos for the top display companies in the industry. I have been honored over the years, designing for a long and prominent list of Fortune 500 companies: Dream Works, Disney, Google, Nike, Nintendo, Philips, Motorola, McDonald's, Ford, General Motors, Chrysler, Jeep, Rolls Royce, Porsche, Toyota, Nissan, Volkswagen, Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mazda, KIA, Hyundai, Honda, Fiat, Mitsubishi, Lancia, Infiniti, Audi, Acura, Suzuki, Toys R Us, Panasonic, Visteon, Capital One, General Dynamics, Bosch, Exxon, Dow, Major League Baseball, Medtronics.

Through all of my corporate work there was an ever present love of children's entertainment. Inspired by creators such as Walt Disney, Jim Henson, Dr Suess, Irwin Allen and others I endeavored to give life to inspiring characters of my own. It took many years of dedicated development to finally put all of the pieces together.

The result of that quest is GOOcommand®. It's not just a series of books but an entire brand of products and activities for young minds to explore. I hope you enjoy all we have to offer, and I hope your children find creative fulfillment in the worlds we create.
