James Cohen (1981 -) is a digital culture expert, writer, educator, producer, and public speaker. Jamie has a PhD in Media and Cultural Studies focused on memes, internet culture, and tech history. Formerly, he co-founded the New Media program (an internet studies degree) at Molloy University in Rockville Centre, NY. Currently, Jamie is an assistant professor at CUNY Queens College where he teaches Social Media, Digital Activism and critical advertising studies. Jamie is a faculty fellow of the Salzburg Academy on Media and Global Change and a faculty fellow of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Jamie sits on several media advisory boards and he is the Head of Education for Digital Void, an Internet Literacies project. Overall, Jamie's goal is to educate and empower people to become more civic engaged and make intentional choices in their media consumption diets.
