Dave Welmans

Dave Welmans was born in a small gold mining town in South Africa and graduated from the University of Witwatersrand. He has travelled extensively in Africa for both business and pleasure over the last 30 years.

He has climbed Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa's highest peak at 5895m/19,341ft. Dave still loves jumping on a plane and disappearing into Africa for relaxation.

He is an experienced telecoms professional, having worked in this field for more than a decade. His deep-rooted African-ness colours his passion for all things African and with his 25 years experience in ICT and telecoms combine to provide the input into The Last Billion.

Dave lives and works in Johannesburg, doing business consulting and running a 3-D printing company. He does public speaking on technology and Africa.
