Kathleen Rasche

Kathleen Rasche is a retired freelance journalist, photographer and publisher. "I believe curiosity and imagination are a valuable part of any culture. As a parent, I spent countless hours making up silly songs and stories with my children. When they were very young, we loved to build blanket forts, draping blankets and sheets across the furniture in our living room, crawling inside and reading together. We would make the stories come to life by giving each character a different voice. I'm still close to my adult children today.

"At a reading celebration in an elementary school, I asked the kids what their favorite part of having their parents read to them was. I was astonished when none of them had been read to. Really? I was saddened to think any parent could get too busy to share that very special experience with their kids.

"I wrote 'Cake for Breakfast Every Day' hoping to encourage parents not to waste those precious years. Sharing this silly, imaginative story, I hope, will bring parents, grandparents, guardians or caregivers and the children they love closer to each other.

"My second book 'Float to the Moon and other bedtime poems' is sure to be your favorite way to get your children off to dreamland."
