Sandy K Cooper was born in Maryborough in Queensland, Australia, to Irish/Italian parents.
Like all good generation X-ers, she left home early to make a mark in the world, returning home after careers as a public servant, lawyer and teacher. Now a mum of one and step-mum of one, it was time to pick up the long lost dream of writing.
Inspiration hit after four floods swept through Maryborough in just three years. The idea for "Norman the Prawn" was born - a children's story about a little river prawn washed out into the deep ocean by flooding rains.
Although she experiments with other genres, Sandy delights in the far more colourful and fun tales of a little prawn called Norman :).
