Tugce Cankaya

Dr. Tugce Cankaya Simpson holds a BA (Hons) degree in English Language and Literature, MA degree in English Language Teaching/TESOL with the dissertation award, and PhD in English Literature. She completed her PhD dissertation and further academic research at Art, Media and Language Studies, University of Bolton, and she was awarded by an academic scholarship for her research. She also holds Cambridge DELTA- Diploma of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and Cambridge Train the Trainer. Having worked in different capacities as a teacher, assistant professor, teacher trainer and manager since 2006 in various educational contexts including, secondary, FE and HE, she delivered a variety of courses such as TESOL (Birmingham City University), ESOL (Stoke-on-Trent College), EAP/ESP (University of Manchester, Keele University and University of Southampton), Contemporary English Literature, Discourse Analysis, Culture and Language and Critical Literary Theories at the department of Applied English and Translation Studies, which she coordinated as a Department Head (Ufuk University, Ankara,Turkey). Tugce is also an assessment specialist, marker and assessment reviewer in high stake awarding bodies in the UK. She involves in academic research and editing in peer-reviewed academic journals as well as being on Managing Editorial Board at NALANS. Holding Cambridge Train the Trainer, she is also The Bell Foundation licensed trainer and provides training for staff in schools across the West Midlands (England) to unlock the potential of learners whose first language is not English.
