Eric Hehman is Chief Executive Officer of Austin Asset. Eric joined Austin Asset in 1997, became a principal in 1999, and CEO in 2007. In 2014, Eric completed the seven year transition plan providing for the retirement of the firm’s founder.
Under Eric’s leadership, the firm has been awarded top national financial advisor honors in Worth, Mutual Funds, Bloomberg's Wealth Manager, and Medical Economics.
Beyond Austin Asset, Eric is a progressive influence for the next generation of financial planners and is a respected thought leader for best management practices throughout the industry. Sharing his story to encourage other next generation leaders in their professional growth and managerial accomplishment fueled the fire that led to Success and Succession.
Eric is active in leadership of professional and philanthropic organizations, nationally and in the greater Austin area, including Regional Board President of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), founder of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) Austin Career Day, Capital IDEA, Central Texas Estate Planning Council, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and South Texas.
Eric is especially effective serving in leadership roles with early stage organizations as they set out to achieve entirely new impacts within their communities. These have included Haleycurls for Hope, LifePastor, and Nineveh Ministries. In 2013, Eric was honored as the winner of the “Austin Under Forty Award” in the category of Finance, which recognizes a select group of young executives for their outstanding professional achievements and significant contributions to the community.
Eric is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Business Economics. Eric earned the CFP® designation in November 1999, one of the youngest Certified Financial Planner professionals in the nation at that time.
Eric is a native of Austin, Texas where he lives with his wife JayLeen, and their four children: Christopher, Conner, James, and Jenna.
