Angela James is an Associate Professor of African American Studies at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. Trained as a sociologist and demographer, Professor James' has devoted her life to understanding and working to eradicate racial inequality. She has been awarded major research grants from The Ford Foundation, Social Science Research Council, and The Haynes Foundation. Her expertise includes: Race, Education, Urban Inequality, and Family Studies. She is the author of numerous articles and book chapters, with articles in the Journal of Marriage and Family, Journal of Comparative Sociology, and Journal of Research in Higher Education.
Dr. James holds a Ph.D. degree in Sociology, as well as an M.A. degree in African American Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles
