Matt Cahill

Matt Cahill is a Toronto writer. His debut novel, the literary thriller The Society of Experience was released in 2015 and was picked as a top must-read by Harper’s Bazaar magazine. His follow-up novel, Radioland was released in 2022. His short fiction has appeared with Fusion Fragment, The Quarantine Review, Found Press and The Rusty Toque. He has contributed essays to The Best Canadian Essays of 2017, Ryeberg, the Humber Literary Review, Torontoist, and blogTO. He also has a blog, Imaginary Magnitude.

Matt is a Registered Psychotherapist with a private practice in downtown Toronto. He lives with his partner on what remains of Queen West.

A graduate of Sheridan College's Media Arts program, under the tutelage of experimental filmmaker Philip Hoffman, Matt spent the next 20 years working behind the scenes of the film and television industry and holds an honorary Production Certificate from the Emmy® Awards (Outstanding Achievement in Single Camera Editing). During this time he had the pleasure of working alongside some of the most accomplished industry professionals in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. He contributed an online post-production diary for the completion of Guy Maddin's feature, Keyhole. He was also an instructor with Humber College’s Film and TV Production program.
