Jochen Kaempf was born in 1966 in Berlin, Germany, grew up in the town of Buxtehude near Hamburg and migrated to Adelaide, Australia, in 1999. He currently works as a physical oceanographer at Flinders University and he has published two widely used textbooks in the field of hydrodynamic modelling (published at Springer). His research highlights include the discovery of the Great Southern Australian Coastal Upwelling System. Jochen is passionate musician (he recently started to play the trombone) and he devotes most his free time to his family and his two younger children, Alissa and Tobi. He just has started to publish bedtime stories in a book series entitled: A Boy Called Merlin (Goodnight Stories for Big Kids) at Amazon.
