The inspiration for Mostly Maxx came from small-town life in rural Indiana. The author, Curtis Davis, lived in Farmland, a town on the eastern border of the state with a population of just over 1,000 people.
Rural life was exciting for a small boy. Davis and his companions rode skateboards, read comics, and traded baseball cards. He played baseball, was into scouting and raced pinewood cars.
As a young boy growing up there, Davis learned important life lessons. Davis hopes other children can share with their parents and grandparents the joy and excitement of family, and learning new things about life every day.
Davis studied to be a teacher at Ball State's Teachers College in Muncie, Indiana. He later attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
Davis and his wife, Rosemary, now live in Central Florida. They enjoy family and the love of their four daughters who also serve as inspiration for his books.
