Joy Thomas

Born in 1944, Joy lived in St Annes on Sea, Lancashire, England, until moving with her parents to Mufulira, a small mining town on the Copperbelt, in what was then Northern Rhodesia.

She returned to England in 1959 settling in Gloucestershire, marrying in 1963, but divorced in 1974. She has three children, three step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her initial inspiration for writing poetry was her eldest son Phillip who was brain damaged at birth due to lack of oxygen. He also has Asperger's Syndrome. She hopes her poetry will enable people to understand a little of what the journey has been like, and perhaps help others who are making a similar journey.
