M. A. MALCOLM is still floored when she is referred to as an "award-winning author." Even after having her debut novel announced as the Christian Small Publisher 2016 Book of the Year (Romance), she still finds it hard to believe — much less say — that she's a Christian author. A former educator, she is a certified copy editor and administrative service provider.

An early reader, Malcolm has been interested in writing fiction since her childhood. The lonely, blinking cursors surrounded by stark white space, however, convinced her that writing wasn’t one of her gifts.

Until she had something she was desperate to say.

In the wake of multiple pregnancy losses, she felt led to write something that would help Christian women deal with the grief of stillbirth and miscarriage. After several failed attempts to translate her thoughts into a self-help book, she began to write a fictional story line that incorporated some of the painful issues she wanted to address. Soon, it was as if the characters had a life of their own, and she could only accompany them on their journey towards healing and love.

Malcolm’s first novel, "His Last Hope: A Contemporary Christian Romance" was inspired by the Holy Spirit, whom she refers to as her “Holy Ghostwriter.” It was followed by a children's book, "So very... Max" in 2016 and "His Last Resort", the prequel to "His Last Hope", in 2017. "His Last Chance" was released in 2022. She prays that her books will encourage their readers to trust God in and through all circumstances, knowing that He is able to work all things together so that His purpose will be served.

She was thrilled to learn that her debut novel had been named the 2016 Book of the Year (Romance) by the Christian Small Publishers Association and was nominated for the Reward of Novel Excellence (RONE) Award in the Inspirational category. For her, the recognition is further confirmation of the hand of God on the project. She is also a former National Reading Champion of Jamaica.

Now the mother of a remarkable eleven-year-old who is an author in his own right, M. A. Malcolm divides her time among her family responsibilities and her work in her native Jamaica.
