Michael Martin grew up a foreign service intelligence brat. He grew up in New Delhi India, Moscow U.S.S.R., Frankfurt Germany, Monrovia Liberia, and Harare Zimbabwe. Moving back to the U.S.A. in 1991 he enrolled at University of Maryland to find himself for the first time in life soon suffering from culture shock. In 1993 he took his first job in the bar industry and never looked back.
Working as a bar back, bartender, server, Assistant Manager, and General Manager, no job came without challenges to overcome. A service professional that took himself as better than those around him, while keeping a sarcastic flair and humor, he dealt with an unprofessional business and found ways to overcome and succeed. From employee to manager he always sought to promote himself and his brand or bar. In spite of obstacles ranging from competitive coworkers, ineffective poorly motivated managers, self-destructive owners and the Great Recession, he continually found ways to succeed in an insane industry.
