Dr. Gregory Joe Bledsoe

Dr. Gregory Joe Bledsoe developed his singing interests in high school where he sang in his choral group. Upon graduating from Hastings College of Law in 1977, he began singing with the “Voices of Legacy.” This was a acapella group which sang spirituals throughout the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area. In 1990, Bledsoe went solo and formed “Source of Light.”

This music began as an alternative to the negative lyrics in songs that his elementary school students were listening to and being influenced by. Dr. Bledsoe has been an Oakland teacher and educator for 30 years where his music became a source of empowerment, allowing the students to take responsibility for conditions in their lives and changing those conditions by challenging what they think, say, do and listen to.

Bledsoe is a health advocate and Steps For Peace, peace award recipient. He believes that we are experiencing a shift in our consciousness and that this music is an excellent catalyst in that direction. He also believes that we need to take positive steps in healing our families, communities and our planet. Dr. Bledsoe feels this is the right music at the right time in our evolution, as this music is a responsible choice for expanding the healing process.

Source of Light provides positive messages in a delightful blend of jazz fusion, reggae, pop and inspirational music. His music is in many schools and public libraries. It has been played on many radio stations including KGO’s “God Talk,” KKST, KBLX, KEST, and KDIA. Additionally, he has been featured on KPFA’ Morning Show and on KPIX’s Channel Seven EVENING MAGAZING. It is his diverse style that allows Bledsoe and “Source of Light” into different performance venues such as festivals, fairs, private parties, weddings, schools, churches, and any other occasion when people get together to celebrate.

Dr. Bledsoe’s music is fun, exciting, soothing and danceable! The music and message is enthusiastically received by audiences of all ages. It provides a positive, inspirational and self-empowering message. So relax and enjoy the sound of Mr. “Love is the Answer.”
