Ronald Kern is the creator of the Young Patriot Series, engaging children’s books designed to help young readers discover America’s Founding Fathers, Founding Mothers, and the powerful story behind our nation. His passion is simple: helping families raise kids who understand freedom, history, faith, and the values that built America.
Ron is an independent historian and host of the Patriot Power Podcast, a popular American Revolution podcast where he brings the founding era to life through storytelling, research, and practical insight. He and his wife Lisa spent five years teaching the U.S. Constitution and American Revolution at a Christian homeschool co-op, shaping his commitment to making history accessible, meaningful, and inspiring for the next generation.
His connection to this era is also personal, as his fifth great grandfather fought in the Revolutionary War, a legacy that continues to influence his writing and teaching.
Ron and Lisa, married 35 years, live on their 42-acre Idaho homestead, Back Forty Farms. There they focus on self-sufficiency, community, and producing organic, farm-grown foods, many freeze-dried and shipped nationwide. Farm life often inspires the themes of resilience, gratitude, and character found throughout his work.
An entrepreneur at heart, Ron started his first business at 23 and has since helped launch multiple companies and nonprofits focused on service, wellness, and education. He is also the author of Passion In Action, a book about turning ideas into real-world success.
Most days you’ll find Ron writing, researching for books and his Patriot Power Podcast, working the farm, or planning the next project. His greatest joy, though, is life with Lisa, their children, and their two grandchildren, who keeps them smiling and grounded.
