Christopher David Sturdevant
Christopher David Sturdevant was born on January 16, 1965, on the island of Taiwan, while his Father served as a Security Policeman in the United States Air Force. In 1971, his Father was reassigned to Lackland AFB and the family moved to San Antonio, Texas, where he grew up.
While attending high school at South San Antonio West Campus, his sophomore English teacher began to see in him the potential of becoming a talented writer. He started out writing short stories and poetry, and began having dreams of becoming a famous author some day. In later years, he began to put his poetry to music, thus adding songwriter to his list of talents.
Upon graduation from high school, he followed in his Father’s footsteps, entering the United States Air Force. He became a Medical Services Specialist and was stationed at Wilford Hall Medical Center in his hometown of San Antonio. In the years since, he has worked in the fields of mental health, computer sales, computer technical support, web and graphic design, marketing, and in the copy and print industry.
Throughout his life, writing always seemed to take a back seat to whatever was going on in his world, but every once in a while, it moved back up to the front.
In the fall of 2009, during his recovery from back surgery, he returned to school at Northwest Vista College, in San Antonio, where he studied Digital Media. He attended college part-time while continuing to work full-time. In December of 2013, Christopher graduated Suma Cum Laude with an Associates of Applied Sciences degree in Digital Media. He continued his school work, working on an additional degree in Digital Video and Cinema Production.
In 2013, while taking screen writing class he wrote an original script based on one of his short story ideas, which he had started long ago but never finished. When the semester was over, he realized that he had all of the elements in place to write the complete story. He began the task of converting the script over to manuscript form and the final product has evolved into his first full length children’s novel.
As luck would have it, and through the power of social media, he reconnected with his mentor and former English teacher, and together they started down the road to publication.
With his first manuscript now published, in both e-book and printed format, Chris spends his time working on the sequel to his first novel, and he is well on his way to the completion of another exciting adventure. The story of The Hall of a Thousand Doors will ultimately unfold over a series of several books, however, Chris is already hard at work planning several stand-alone novels based on the original characters he created from this series.
