Hi, thank you for looking up my page.
As I write this, "Scotia" is lying at anchor off Also Island in Fiji. I am a cruiser, a sea gypsy, or a wandering sailor."
My wife Brenda and I left Scotland in 2001 on my home built, 12m yacht "Scotia."
Since then we have sailed well over a 100,000 sea miles, all around this small world of ours; one and a half times.
We have had lots of adventures, some scary, but most were just wonderful experiences.
People always ask us what Country we like best, a hard question. My answer today, is New Zealand, we have just spent the last few months there, our second visit. I suppose I like it so much because it reminds me of the Scottish Highlands, and because I could go fly fishing for trout again.
I started writing about 10 years ago mostly songs and ditties.
'Loch Ness Tales Legends and Recipes" my 4th book and my favourite.
It drew on memories of my early days. A very different way of life.
At that time I was into country sports. Tramping the Highland mountains, stalking red deer, rearing pheasants, and fishing for salmon; but what I enjoyed most was breeding, training, and working my springer Spaniel gun dogs. I still miss my dogs.
"A gift from A princess." A sailing adventure story. A story of treasure. It again drew on my Highland past and it gave me a chance to relate some of my sailing experiences and true adventures.
A few of my book reviews that appeared in Smash-words, my publishers publisher.

I had the opportunity to meet Hugh and Brenda while working at a marina where they docked for some time. "Lochness" is just as lilting and entertaining as they were. I love his writing style: subtle, tongue-in-cheek wit full of Scottish verbage. The recipes sound delicious, and I hope someday soon to put them to the test. (Or myself to the test, rather.) Highly recommend.

This was a highly entertaining book. Hugh writes with imagination and a soupcon of dry humour. I do hope he continues with his writing and look forward to reading the results.

I fell in love with this book. I was up all night reading it too. Prepare yourself for an adventure when reading it. The scenes will draw you in and the oat tips will have you rushing to the kitchen...or galley, as in my case. The best writer I've seen in a long time.

Grab this book, a wee dram of whisky and some oatcakes, put up your feet and get ready to enjoy. Fraser makes his characters and his homeland come alive through the legends and stories that he relates. His sense of humour and his love of Scotland shine through.

This is a very entertaining book. I enjoyed in very much.
Most of the stories have a Highland connection, the ones about Scottish Game keepers, Poachers, and Fishermen are outstanding.
I'm no cook but the recipes do look easy to follow: I'm tempted to have a go.
The snippets of history and the legends are just enough to enthrall, nice balance.
All in all this is a well written book. I highly recommend it. Thank you.
