I live in England with my wife Jan.

My seven ‘At Large’ books relate our boating days on a narrowboat and a Dutch Barge on the waterways of the UK and Western Europe. Then latterly, my cycling adventures in tandem with a campervan. Throughout, a touch of humour.

I felt a deep pull to write something entirely different and 'Believe it or Not' is my most personal project yet. It’s an honest exploration of my spirituality where I balance subjective experiences with an examination of the universe, science, and how I chose a personal relationship with God over institutional religion. It has been an enlightening and fascinating journey.

I’ve also written four novels and four autobiographical books based round our home town in Lancashire.

It took till well into my sixth decade to have something worth writing about. Previously I could have written about all my business successes, but that could be covered in one sentence. Or rave on about my sporting achievements - that's another dozen words!

Only when we took to the water did something of interest surface.

In some respects, writing about our own adventures is more difficult than making something up from scratch. Writing about me and my wife I must work within testing parameters, such as telling the truth.
