Margot Atwell is a writer, editor, publisher, and creative community builder. She was once called “Book Biz Cassandra” by Publishers Weekly. She is the editor of Absolute Pleasure: Queer Perspectives on Rocky Horror, author of Derby Life: A Crash Course in the Incredible Sport of Roller Derby, and co-author of The Insider’s Guide to Book Publishing Success, and her writing has been published in LitHub, The Creative Independent, Clarkesworld, On the Books—her newsletter about the intersection of creativity and money, and elsewhere.
She was the Executive Director and Publisher of Feminist Press, and Head of Publishing and Director of the creative outreach team at Kickstarter. She was a Publishers Weekly Star Watch Honoree and received the Digital Book World Outstanding Achievement Award for her work creating The Next Page conference. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
