William Liss-Levinson

A seasoned healthcare executive, I have the benefit of an exceptional breadth and depth of accomplishments and experience in both the for-profit business sector as well as in the not-for-profit provider sectors.

• As Vice-President, Chief Strategy & Operations Officer for Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., [current position] a healthcare research, information, and publishing company, I have played in a key role since 1997 in its expansion and diversification. I am responsible for all aspects of the company’s operations in addition to direct responsibility for business development, strategic partnerships, new product development, marketing and sales and strategic planning.

• Previously I have held senior positions in various healthcare organizations, and have served as: Director of Program Development for Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn & Queens, a major New York integrated delivery system; Director of Corporate Planning for Metropolitan Jewish Health System, a multi-level, multi-site geriatric health delivery system; Director of Medical & Geriatric Services for UJA-Federation of Philanthropies of New York, one of the nation’s leading philanthropic organizations; and Founding Director of a pioneering Hospice program (and one of the first in the nation under Jewish auspices), The Brooklyn Hospice (now known as MJHS hospice, the largest hospice provider in New York State).

• I have testified before Congress on Hospice care and Medicare reimbursement, authored chapters and articles in numerous professional publications, and have lectured and conducted workshops extensively throughout North America to both professional groups and laypersons on topics related to quality metrics in healthcare, strategic planning, hospice care and care of the terminally ill, and ethics in healthcare.

• I have also appeared on a variety of television and radio talk shows, discussing various aspects of health care, including how to find a top doctor and issues related to quality choices for consumers.

Since 2015, I have been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Academy for Jewish Religion, a 60+ year-old pluralistic graduate institution that ordains rabbis and cantors; and I am currently (since August 2018) Chair of the Board. I served as a member of the Board of Directors of the CenterLight Health System, a multi-level, multi-site comprehensive long-term healthcare system based in NYC for 8 years (until April 2019). For more than a decade I served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Book Council, a not-for-profit organization. I chaired two annual conferences for authors/prospective authors and also chaired the Scholarship Category Panel for the prestigious annual National Jewish Book Awards.
