Sandro Esteves

Dr. Sandro Esteves, MD., Ph.D. is the Founder and Medical Director of the ANDROFERT Fertility Center, in Campinas, Brazil.

He established the first Fertility Clinic with a primary focus on male infertility, as well as the very first to introduce quality management as per the ISO 9001 standards and IVF cleanroom technology (ISO 14644-1) in Brazil. Dr. Esteves has over 25 years of clinical experience in all areas of reproductive medicine, with specialization in male reproduction. He earned an international reputation as one of the world's top experts in infertility treatment. He is listed among the top three world experts in the areas of male infertility, azoospermia, varicocele, and sperm retrieval techniques (http://expertscape.com/).

A Collaborating Professor of Urology at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP, Brazil) and Honorary Professor of Reproductive Medicine at Aarhus University (Denmark), Dr. Esteves is also a Research Collaborator at the American Center of Reproductive Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic (USA). His cutting-edge research focuses on the relationship between the treatment of male infertility conditions and assisted reproductive technology (ART) outcomes and for creating innovative tools to counsel infertility couples and to guide physicians alike on best practices for managing the low prognosis patient undergoing ART.

Over the years he has collaborated with a number of internationally recognized leading experts in groundbreaking studies, including varicocele and infertility, sperm DNA fragmentation and IVF success rates, laboratory air quality control and IVF success rates, quality management for the fertility clinic, patient stratification and IVF success rates and many more.

Dr. Esteves received his Master’s in Surgery from the University of Campinas Medical School and his Ph.D. in Urology from the Federal University of São Paulo Medical School. His post-doctoral training was at the American Center for Reproductive Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic.

He is the author of over 10 textbooks in the fields of infertility and reproductive medicine. He was also the co-editor of several Journal Supplements and has published over 300 peer-reviewed scientific papers in top-quality journals including The Lancet, Nature, Human Reproduction Update, Human Reproduction, Fertility and Sterility and many more. Dr. Esteves presents over 50 lectures annually and conducts workshops throughout Brazil and around the world regularly. He has received many research grants and awards from national and international societies and is the current head of the Department of Human Reproduction of the Brazilian Society of Urology (São Paulo Section).
