Vu Tran's short fiction has appeared in the O. Henry Prize Stories, the Best American Mystery Stories, Ploughshares, McSweeney's, and other publications. He is a recipient of the Whiting Writers' Award and fellowships from the National Endowment of the Arts, Bread Loaf, Yaddo, and the MacDowell Colony. Dragonfish is his first novel. Born in Saigon and raised in Oklahoma, Vu received his MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and his PhD from the Black Mountain Institute at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He is currently an Associate Professor of Practice in English and Creative Writing at the University of Chicago.
