A.J. Phillips

My name is A. J. Phillips. I discovered I had a talent for writing quite by accident. One day a line popped into my head and would not go away so I turned it into a poem. Soon more poems followed and eventually I wound up trying to write a novel. My original attempt showed me I could do it.

I started out trying to write horror but figured out I would not be good at it. When you can count the things you fear on one hand. It makes it hard to scare others because you are not scared. Next I tried my hand at fantasy. Personally I liked my stories but they did not seemlessly flow onto the paper or the computer.

Recently I decided to try to write a romance and boom, I found my genre, within a week I had multiple storylines and seemlesly flowing ideas. This is odd for me because I am not what you would describe as a hopeless romantic. At one point in my life I can admit I was but life happens. But I can admit I like off kilter love stories. Ones told from odd points of view.

A little about me:

I was born legally blind with vision that can not be corrected. In my case it's permanent nearsight. I can see but I focus on a limited circle around me. Most people with glasses or contacts are legally blind the only difference is their vision could be fixed. This aspect of my life perhaps has made me the ultimate outsider. caught between two words the the sighted and the blind. It has given me a unique imagination and perspective. I can tell you when you say the words legally blind most people only hear the word blind. But I am unique, it does not limit me.
