Skip Yetter

Skip (Frank) Yetter is a retired journalist, business executive, emerging chef and avid traveler.

His second novel, A Reasonably Viable Marriage, was released in May of 2020. From the book's back cover:

Ben and Brenda Tremblay should have been enjoying the twilight years of their life together.

They should have been spending languid days with their daughter and grandchildren, supported by a universe of friends and savoring quiet hours in a home filled with mementos.

But Brenda suffers from Alzheimer’s disease in a care hospital, a cruel, final obstacle for a couple who survived profound conflict and unthinkable loss in their 63 years of marriage.

Ben is haunted by memories as he struggles to cope. Yet those same thoughts inspire him to savor the remnants of what Brenda’s overbearing father once dismissed as "a reasonably viable marriage,” as the principles of their wedding vows – love, trust, honesty, fidelity, openness, acceptance, partnership and commonality of purpose and values – are tested again and again.

A Reasonably Viable Marriage is a story of love and loss, mistakes and forgiveness, and the human capacity to defy the forces that threaten what matters most.

In 2010 Skip quit his job as a commercial news service executive in the United States and, with his wife, Gabi, moved to Cambodia. Using Phnom Penh as a base, the couple volunteered, learned the Khmer culture and language, and traveled throughout southeast Asia, writing about their experiences on their blog at www.themeanderthals.com.

From 2013 to 2019 Skip and Gabi traveled throughout Asia, Europe and Central and South America, often house sitting for vacationing homeowners, learning new cultures and cuisines, and enjoying the nomadic lifestyle. They unpacked their suitcases in 2019 and now live in East Sussex, UK.

His first novel, Rilertown, was released in October of 2016, the first in the Jake Ketcher series.

Rilertown is a murder mystery set in a racially-torn western Massachusetts city. Young reporter Jake Ketcher encounters corruption, conspiracy and murder as he starts his career for the Rilertown Post-Recorder, breaking first one major story and then another as he struggles to balance a demanding career with an equally challenging personal life.

Murder. Conspiracy. Corruption. Jake faces more than he imagined as he struggles against powerful forces that threaten his career, relationships and his life.

Skip and his wife, Gabi, co-wrote Just Go! Leave the Treadmill for a World of Adventure (2015). In addition to A Reasonably Viable Marriage and Rilertown, he is the author of KISS Kooking (2015), a cookbook collection of family recipes and those he has collected from travels around the world, and fantasy children's books for his grandsons Lasky, Tal and Ollie.

He is currently working on his third novel and drafts of sequels to Rilertown featuring protagonist news reporter Jake Ketcher.
