Kendall Schmitke

Kendall and Tamara Schmitke had three beautiful daughters when they fulfilled their lifelong dream of adopting. In 2010 their entire family travelled to China together to adopt their wonderful son, Donovan. Donovan was born with severe cleft lip and pallet and presumably his birth family was unable to care for him properly. Constrained by China’s one-child policy they took great risk to place him where he would be found by those who care for disabled orphans. His adoption story began with an heroic act of sacrificial love. This was a message that Kendall and Tamara wanted their son to understand, and the story Twice as Tight was born.
